Don’t Miscalculate Your Ovulation Period

Many couples who practice the rhythm method of birth control have often found themselves in a place that they didn’t really prefer at the time — pregnancy and parenthood. This is usually because the ovulation period had been miscalculated and the couple thought it was okay to have intercourse after ovulation.
The reasoning behind all of this is relatively simple. All women are different and shouldn’t just think of themselves as part of the average that ovulates on day 14.
Depending on when a woman ovulates, the chances of conception are greatest if the egg comes in contact with the sperm within 12 to 48 hours after ovulation.
So you may ask if conception is possible after ovulation has occurred. The answer is yes.
To get a better idea of how this can happen, let’s look at an example of a couple. Let’s say that a couple had sexual intercourse on Saturday. The woman begins her ovulation period on Monday.
Since sperm have the ability of living inside the woman’s body for normally up to 3 days, sometimes even 5. There is possibility that if one sperm comes in contact with the egg, the woman will become pregnant.
The life length of the sperm is the deciding component of conception. If the egg is not viable still, conception will not occur.
In earlier generations, women were suggested to have sexual intercourse a few days before ovulation, up until the day of ovulation. Most doctors nowadays suggest that you have sexual intercourse before, during, and after ovulation.
This method is more likely to give positive pregnancy results. Having intercourse every other day is advised so that the sperm count will be able to replenish. The week of ovulation, you should have intercourse at least 3 times.
Some medical doctors have even suggested that it is easier to get pregnant after ovulation. It is hard to know how long the egg is going to be viable for conception. For this reason, the theory of being able to conceive after ovulation is a more believed practice.
Another important thing to think about is that even within the same woman, things can change month to month. Menstrual cycles are usually different lengths, along with the ovulation period. Even women who tend to have regular cycles will find different outcomes for some reason or another.
The reason this occurs is because of stress, poor health, too much physical activity, etc. Getting pregnant after you have already ovulated is possible, and it can be a reality for you.
