Ovulation Signs to Check For

Ovulation occurs when a mature egg is released by the ovary and pushed to the fallopian tube to be ready for fertilization.

During this time, the lining of the uterus is thickened in preparation for fertilization. If egg is left unfertilized, the ovum, uterine wall and blood will be shed. This process is called menstruation.

Because women are most fertile during ovulation, they would want to know these times in a month when they have increased chances of getting pregnant.

Conception is more probable in times of ovulation even if you are fertile almost every day of the month. Ovulation days are the most fertile days of women.

To know whether you are ovulating, you must check on ovulation signs that will help you predict your most fertile times. Some of the ovulation signs you can use are the monitoring of your cervical mucous and tracking of your basal body temperature.

The secretion of the cervix is different from your ovulation days to the ordinary days of your monthly cycle. Cervical mucous is wet and slippery and resembles egg whites during your ovulation and until it ends.

Your cervix is also softer and more open when you are ovulating. To check, you may stick one or two fingers inside your vagina and feel whether your cervix is soft and more open.

The next of the ovulation signs used is the basal body temperature. It is normal for women to have rising body temperatures when they are ovulating, keeping track of your temperature using a basal thermometer can help you generate patterns in predicting your ovulation days.
